What Emergency Supplies Should you Keep in Your Car?

When you set out each day in your car, try and ensure you have everything you need to make your journey as smooth as possible and these emergency supplies could end up being invaluable.

You should always have the car’s manual in the glove compartment along with the information of your auto repair ship and the number of your breakdown service. Keep paper and a pen in there as well as information about your vehicle’s insurance.

Your safety supplies should include a flashlight, a first aid kit, a multi tool, matches, energy bars, a bottle of water, a window breaker in case of emergency, reflective triangle, ice scraper if you live in a cold weather area along with a blanket.

In addition a piece of cardboard or carpet which will help with traction in the snow, ice or mud, paper towels.

Make sure the spare tire is in good condition and properly inflated and ensure you have a tire jack and tire iron as well.

Drunk Drivers Decrease Nationwide but not in North Dakota

The Department of Transport has reported that across the United States the number of drunk drivers has decreased dramatically.

The survey was carried out across the country looking at weekend drivers and it states that there used to be 38% of weekend drivers who were under the influence of alcohol. This figure has now reduced to 8 percent.

Unfortunately according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, this is not the case in the state as in around half of all of the fatal accidents the drivers are impaired by alcohol.

Although the Highway Patrol have a strong presence on the highway and they arrest on average just under 2,000 people a year on DUI charges, at the end of the day it is the choice of the driver whether or not to drink.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is asking drivers to make better decisions when it comes to drinking and driving.
